8.0 System Checkout
After installation in the aircraft/vehicle, it is necessary for the user to perform a system operation check to
ensure that the system is powered on and operating properly.
Ensure doors/ramps are closed so that GPS signals directly from the satellites from the
outside of the aircraft/vehicle do not compromise the test of the ECHO II
If using an ECHO II connected to an AEU/GAS1: Enable the aircraft navigation system so
as to ensure that the AEU/GAS-1 is on and operational. (For COBRA Kits this is not
recommended).
OR
If using an ECHO II connected to an active antenna: Ensure the aircraft is in a location
with a clear view of the sky, so the active antenna can receive signal.
Enable the ECHO II by pressing and
holding the power button on the face of
the ECHO II for 2 seconds until the
display turns on. Wait 4 minutes, or until
the “XMIT” LED is no longer flashing to
ensure complete system initialization.
